What a waste of money, using hot water to open a jar! The reason you can't open a jar lid, is because of the suction created during manufacture. So just get a meat mallet, or the end of an old knife, etc., and bang a few dents in the lid. The pressure is relieved - and the lid comes off easily.


I prefer to put some pasta in my sugar to stop it sticking. Works just as well as it absorbs the moisture but won't go mouldy!


done this and been doing this since a teenager my Mother showed me this and true too.
