Sex problems: 'I get pain during and after sex'

Sex problems: 'I get pain during and after sex'
Average rating: 3 out of 5 star rating

I've started to suffer from terrible pain both during and after sex. Is this something serious?

Dr Petra says

Pain should never be ignored so make an appointment with your doctor to check you're okay. If you think your pain is due to dryness or a lack of arousal you can try using a lubricant, exploring fantasies, erotica, masturbation, using sex toys, and sharing what excites you with your partner.

Pain can be common in relationships where couples aren't getting on, in which case counselling could help - contact Relate for more information.

Alternatively, your pain may be due to:

1. Health problems such as cystitis or thrush that your pharmacist can treat.
2. Sexually transmitted infections can cause pain - find out where your nearest Genito Urinary Clinic is for tests and treatment at Condom Essential Wear
3. Conditions such as vulvodynia or vaginismus can also cause pain and distress and need professional help.

Sounds like a bacterial infection, take the full prescription and all will be fine. Do not worry or stress about having sex again, make sure you are lubricated and asked him to slide in gently at first then to pick up the pace once you are happy that everything feels ok and you are relaxed! We started in missionary so the penetration wasn't deep and I could control him with my thighs if I felt uncomfortable. Which I didn't!

I and my boyfriend have been in love for almost 2 years we had no problem having sex the last time we had it was August no problem then, but when we also had iit some weeks ago I feel pain as soon as he enters me I feel like he hit the wall. I dont understand I see the doctor and gave me antibiotics, but am still afraid if it will happen again. Is there anything I can do to avoid it happen again.
