Nick Bateman divorces wife of eight years, Lynnette Peck

The two had been separated since 2012

Big Brother's Nick Bateman has divorced his wife of eight years, magazine writer Lynnette Peck.

You may remember him from the very first edition of Big Brother, which was on television almost 16 years ago (yep, we feel old too!).

In 2000, Nick rose to fame after he was controversly caught cheating on the reality TV show. Now it's been revealed that one of TV's first reality show stars has divorced his wife of eight years, Lynnette Peck.

Nick married the magazine writer in 2007, and the two started a business together in 2011 - Lovely's Vintage Emporium.

The couple then split one year later, in August 2012, according to papers in court, with Nick moving out of the home they shared a month after.

They're now officially divorced after their request was accepted at a court hearing, which lasted 30 seconds and neither of them attended.

The reason given for the divorce was the long time the couple spent apart, after they separated.

The ex-Big Brother contestant has now moved to Bondi in Sydney, according to The Mirror.

Nick on Ultimate Big Brother in 2010

Nick became famous with his appearance on Big Brother in 2000, in the first series of the show on Channel 4.

He was caught cheating on camera, trying to influence other contestants' votes by passing them notes.

One contestant, Craig Phillips, who eventually went on to win the first edition of Big Brother, confronted Nick about his behaviour, and he was later kicked out of the show.

Speaking of his premature exit, Nick said at the time: 'If you live by the sword, you die by the sword'.

After being booted off the show, he cashed in on his popularity by making a string of celebrity appearances, presenting a show on BBC2 called Trust Me, and writing a book - Nasty Nick: How To Be A Right Bastard.

In 2010, the reality TV star returned to the small screen, on the show Ultimate Big Brother.
