Princess Eugenie is engaged to boyfriend Jack Brooksbank

Princess Eugenie is engaged to her long term boyfriend Jack Brooksbank, according to an official statement shared by Buckingham Palace.

The lovely news were announced by the Duke and Duchess of York, who said their younger daughter and Mr Brooksbank will marry this year.

In the statement, posted on the official Twitter account of Royal Family, they also revealed the couple became engaged earlier this month, in Nicaragua.

Princess Eugenie and Jack Brooksbank's nuptials will be the second royal wedding of 2018, after Harry and Meghan's big day in May.

The announcement also revealed that the two young couples will have more in common than just the year of their wedding.

Both duos will tie the knot at the same place - St George's Chapel at Windsor Castle - but Princess Eugenie and Jack's wedding will take place a few months later, in the autumn. However, an exact date is yet to be announced.

The statement read: 'The Duke and Duchess of York are delighted to announce the engagement of Princess Eugenie to Mr Jack Brooksbank.

'Her Royal Highness and Mr Brooksbank became engaged in Nicaragua earlier this month.

'The wedding will take place in the Autumn of 2018 at St George's Chapel in Windsor, with further details to be announced in due course.'

Speaking of the couple's engagement, Jack's parents said they were excited for the pair.

'We could not be more delighted with the news of the engagement', said Nicola and George Brooksbank. 'We are completely over the moon and are very excited for them both.'

Eugenie and Jack, who's the manager of Mayfair club Mahiki, have been an item for around seven years, after meeting while skiing in the Swiss resort of Verbier.
