goodtoknow says: Breast cancer has never been more successfully treated. In fact amazing advances in drugs and treatment mean that almost two thirds of women diagnosed today will still live a long life. Breast cancer is one of the most common cancers in the world. More than 44,000 cases are diagnosed in the UK every year, with around 80% in women over 50. You should know how your breasts look and feel normally so that you can pick up any changes quickly. If you notice any changes to your breasts, lumps, changes in size, shape, dimpling, or discharge, try not to worry, but see your GP as soon as you can. The sooner breast cancer is diagnosed, the more likely you are to be successfully treated.

For a full medical explanation of the causes, symptoms and treatments of breast cancer from patient.co.uk, read on. Breast cancer (cancer of the breast) is one of the most common cancers in women. Most cases occur in women over the age of 50. If you notice any lump or change to your normal breast then you should see a doctor promptly. If breast cancer is diagnosed at an early stage, there is a good chance of a cure. In general, the more advanced the cancer (the more it has grown and spread), the less chance that treatment will be curative. However, treatment can often slow the progress of the cancer.
