I'd snored for years but never knew why until my doctor diagnosed nasal polyps. A steroid nose spray helps but I've found the best thing for my snoring is Snore No More Spray (10ml for 100 sprays, £8.50, www.expresschemist.co.uk).

My doctor prescribed steroid nose drops, but they didn't seem to work. I went back to my doctor and she said that I was not using them properly as I was tilting my head back. Ideally, you should kneel, or stand and bend fully down and imagine you are about to stand on your head. If you stay with your head down for three minutes, this allows the drops to drain fully into the nostrils. My nasal polyps were gone in two weeks!
