Men are bigger than women and need more calories every day so they eat bigger portions. The guideline daily amount of calories per day is 2,000 for women and 2,500 for men. If he cooks for you, he'll probably put the same amount on your plate as on his. Eating it all may be the polite thing to do, but it won't help you keep you weight stable!
