Housework

Do two things at once: burn calories and clean the house - you won't
even notice you're exercising.

A new study has found that pushing a mop across the floor and wringing it out in a bucket over the space of an hour can burn off 238 calories (that's two small glasses of wine or a chocolate bar!).

If you don't have an hour's worth of floor in your house to mop, there are other ways you can use housework to burn off some calories...

Light housework/cleaning - 240 kcals/hour
Ironing - 171 kcals/hour
Washing up - 171 kcals/hour
Mowing the lawn - 333 kcals/hour
Washing the car - 343 kcals/hour
Mopping the floor - 238 kcals/hour

And, doctors have confirmed that just 45 minutes of moderate exercise a day could stop 5,500 cases of breast cancer developing in Britain annually.  And exercising doesn't have to mean sweating away in a gym every day - gardening and vacuuming also count.
