Carol Vorderman has shared the heartbreaking news that her mother, Jean Vorderman, has died following a short battle with cancer.
The TV presenter paid tribute to her late mother, taking to Twitter to share the sad news with her fans.
Writing to her 379k followers, the 54-year-old star revealed that her beloved mum had lost her battle with cancer only after her funeral service had taken place.
Carol wrote a touching message, admitting that the day had been ‘tough’ before calling her mum ‘amazing’ and telling her that she will ‘always be loved’.
The former Countdown presenter said, ‘Some days are tough, today was one of them. Today was my amazing Mum’s funeral…..❤️ Rest In Peace Jean Vorderman. You will always be loved’.
Many of Carol’s fans, friends and followers took to social media to offer support to the TV star, tweeting her with messages of condolences.

Whilst another reminisced about meeting Carol and Jean, ‘I’m so sorry to hear this Carol. I remember interviewing her with you here in Yorkshire many years ago – she was so proud of you. Much lovex’.
One Twitter user urged the I’m A Celebrity star to remember the good times, writing, ‘Cherish the memories Carol. Parents cannot be replaced.’

Carol originally revealed that her mum had been battling a number of cancers in a series of tweets in 2015.
But it was on Mother’s Day in March of this year that Carol shared the sad update that Jean had become terminally ill.
