Think of this as your rescue remedy – antioxidant-rich foods can give your brain a boost and turn back the clock. Eat as many different fruits and vegetables as you can, especially the brightly coloured ones. Here are some of the most potent antioxidant foods:

Fruits: Blueberries, blackberries, Red Delicious apples with skin, sweet cherries, black plums, raspberries, cranberries, strawberries, avocados, Navel oranges, red grapes.

Vegetables: Garlic, cooked red cabbage and broccoli, dark leafy greens (spinach and kale), red peppers, carrots, sweet potatoes, onions and tomatoes.

Nuts: Walnuts and Brazil nuts are brilliant.

Wholegrains: Wholewheat, oatmeal and brown rice are a good source of antioxidants.
