Mum hits back at men who ridiculed her on the way to the gym

'Your laughter and rude comments didn't stop me from busting my ass at the gym today.'

One mum had an inspiring message to the men who left her crying as she attempted to go to the gym.

Brittany posted her story, which has since gone viral, on social network site Imgur in response to the men who ridiculed her for being overweight while on her way to the gym.

'Your laughter and rude comments didn't stop me from busting my ass at the gym today. Please excuse my lack of make up and my ratty old clothes. I did not leave the house to impress you today

'I went to impress myself and to make my son proud of his mom. This "hog" as you so graciously deemed me has been on a journey to better herself.'

She also went on to say that, despite her weight, doctors aren't worried about her health: 'My doctor was blown away by my blood work. My total cholesterol was 118 which is well below the 200 limit for normal. I don't have diabetes or high blood pressure either. How many of you can say the same?'

In her social media post, Brittany documented how the men's comments made her feel: 'I almost gave up today. After being ridiculed I sat in my car in the parking lot and cried. I wanted nothing more than to go home binge watch TV.'

But she said she won't let the horrible comments stop her from achieving her goals and made it to the gym to prove the men wrong: 'Over a hour of sweating and huffing but I did it. Now please excuse my big fat ass as I go home to my loving son who probably wants me to run around with him for another hour.'

Many Imgur users found it inspiring, with over 3,000 people leaving comments under her post. They posted encouraging comments such as 'Love yourself and celebrate your successes. Proud of you' and 'I too hit the gym to get healthier - don't give up'.
