Former Wham! singer Andrew Ridgeley confirms split from Bananarama's Keren Woodward

The pop-singing stars had been together for 25 years before announcing their separation...

Andrew Ridgeley, former bandmate of the late George Michael in pop group Wham!, and Bananarama singer Keren Woodward have confirmed that that have split up for the second time.

The talented duo, who both rose to fame in the early 80s for singing in successful pop groups, started dating 25 years ago and have had a turbulent relationship ever since.

The pair began dating in 1990 and settled down in Cornwall together for a quieter life away from the public eye. Speaking of their time together by the coast Keren revealed: 'Our life in Cornwall is really quiet... we go to the pub and no one bothers us. Even when George [Michael] comes to visit, he isn't hassled.'

However, despite their idyllic life in Cornwall, Andrew revealed in 2015 that the couple had temporarily split after facing 'difficulties'.

Not long afterwards, the couple reconciled, with Andrew confirming that the pair had worked through their problems and put them behind them.

'It's safe to say that things are good and we are very happy now,' Andrew told the Sunday Mirror in 2015. 'I don't really like to talk about my private life much, but we have worked through everything.'

Sadly, the couple have now both announced that they have split again. Keren, 56, was the first to confirm that she is now living in London away from the couple's home in Cornwall, but insists that the pair are remaining friends.

'Yes, we've gone our separate ways. These things happen unfortunately, but we still speak.'

'He's actually coming to quite a few of the dates on the new Bananarama tour.'

Speaking to The Mirror, Andrew, who is 54, also stated: 'As close friends, with different lives, we see each other as circumstances allow and retain a great affection for one another.'

The couple never had any children together, although Keren does have a son Thomas from a previous relationship.
