What’s The Night Rainbow about?
Set in the summer in France, we meet Pea and her little sister Margot. The pair have been through a rollercoaster of events; their father died in an accident, their mother had a miscarriage leaving her unhappy and devastated to the point of not being able to look after the duo. But the pair carry on trying to cheer Maman (their mother) up with everything from flowers to breakfast, but it just doesn’t seem to be working.
Then they meet Claude, a man who they often come across in the meadow with his dog. But why do the villages dislike Claude? And what deep dark secret is he hiding? Told in the voice of Pea, this gripping story takes us on an emotional journey.
goodtoknow says: From the first word we were completely gripped, wondering and waiting to see how Pea’s character would develop. The descriptions of the scenery made us feel like we were there, following Pea and her sister along the country path, playing hide and seek. A really enchanting book that keeps you guessing what’s going to happen next. Pea, as the storyteller, makes this book different from others with a real innocence. The perfect book for reading snuggled on the sofa – highly recommended.
