‘Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes’ Vicky Pattison hits back at ‘body shaming’ weight gain claims

Vicky Pattison has hit back after being ‘body shamed’ with an inspirational Instagram post saying ‘beauty comes in all shapes and sizes’.

The Geordie Shore original took to social media after seeing ‘unflattering’ pictures of herself and reading false claims about her dress size and weight in a publication.

The 29-year-old posted a video to Instagram which showed her wearing a red swimming costume featuring a cut out design, perfectly showing off her petite figure.

Vicky spans the camera around her bedroom before focusing on a full length mirror to show off her new swimwear. Typical of her bubbly personality, Vicky laughs and bobs around before delivering a more serious message that although she’s ‘not perfect’, she’s happy with her body and would like critics to ‘back off’ and ‘lighten up’.

Alongside her video, the Queen of the Jungle posted a lengthy caption explaining how she feels about her weight and applauding women who ‘who celebrate their curves’.

Reiterating that her dress size is a 10, Vicky starts by saying,’Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes, mine happens to be a size 10 that I work hard to maintain- I’ve got boobs and a bum and I like it that way!’

Soooooo, here we are again!! 😂 I'm popping this up in response to New Magazine's incorrect, cruel and vile article where they tried their best to body shame me and a couple of other girls! Beauty comes in all shapes and sizes, mine happens to be a size 10 that I work hard to maintain- I've got boobs and a bum and I like it that way! I train often and eat right so I can live my life the way I want to- filled with fun, the odd lion bar and more than a few gin and tonics! 😂🍫🏋🏽💯🍸 It seems that my honesty and openness about my weight journey wasn't good enough for some people though and they've chosen to use unflattering pics that look nothing like me and claim I'm a size 16! I applaud women at any size who celebrate their curves- we're all beautiful!! However I like being the size I am and I work too hard to keep my body shape for people to try and make me feel bad! The worst about it is, it's probably women slagging off women… Such a shame!! Let's love one another and champion our different shapes and sizes instead eh?!! 😍 Anyway, good night and sweets dreams all you lovely, strong and supportive people out there!! I love you… And all you bitter mean and negative ones- I love you more, because it seems to me as though you may need it! 😍👏🏼👙💯💅🏼 Swimsuit is @annsummers btw… OBVS!!

The TV star continues to outline how she keeps herself in shape,’I train often and eat right so I can live my life the way I want to- filled with fun, the odd lion bar and more than a few gin and tonics! 😂🍫🏋🏽💯🍸’.

Referring to the pictures that Vicky had seen of herself in the media, she said, ‘It seems that my honesty and openness about my weight journey wasn’t good enough for some people though and they’ve chosen to use unflattering pics that look nothing like me and claim I’m a size 16!’

She encouraged other women to feel happy with themselves, ‘I applaud women at any size who celebrate their curves- we’re all beautiful!! However I like being the size I am and I work too hard to keep my body shape for people to try and make me feel bad!’

Vicky’s followers flooded her post with support, with many sharing their own stories about their relationship with their weight.

One Instagram user said, ‘You look totally amazing, you have the right balance train eat good but enjoy life and it’s treats .. your body’s spot on well done you’.

Another agreed and spoke out about what pregnancy can do to your body, ‘I had a baby 9 months ago and you know what my body shows that, yes I have lost weight but am happy with my curves and what he did to my body as it means I carried my baby safely. All women are different shapes and sizes lets build each other up’.
