JK Rowling is set to release four new Harry Potter books this summer

We can't wait!

Bestselling author JK Rowling will be releasing four new Harry Potter books next month, which is excellent for fans of the popular franchise.

The eBook short stories will be available on Pottermore, a digital platform for those who love the Wizarding World. The first will be released on June 27th, which will make for excellent summertime reading.

This time, the books will be centred around the lessons that Harry and co. studied during their time at Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. So if you want to learn more about the famous fictional school, now's your chance.

Lessons include Charms, Defence Against the Dark Arts, Potions, Herbology, Divination, Astronomy and Care of Magical Creatures. All of these played a huge part in the original books and subsequent films, so we can’t wait to learn more about them.

A full statement on the Pottermore website has confirmed all of this, reading as follows: ‘Prepare to delve deeper into the rich history of magic (be it our own Muggle history, or the magical world created by J.K. Rowling).'

It goes on to say: 'In addition to exploring the origins of magic through history and folklore, the eBook shorts will also feature notes, manuscript pages and charming sketches as previously seen in Harry Potter: A History of Magic.' Exciting!

Fans will be able to read the first two books called Harry Potter: A Journey Through Charms and Defence Against the Dark Arts and Harry Potter: A Journey Through Potions and Herbology on June 27th, with books three and four following soon after.

The new additions will be illustrated by London based artist Rohan Daniel Eason, with the shorts themselves being inspired by a 2017 British Library exhibition called ‘Harry Potter: A History of Magic’. We're already extremely excited to read them.

The first Harry Potter book was released in 1997, so it’s exciting to have several new installments coming up this year. Will you be reading them? Head to our Facebook page and let us know!
