This week, Lorraine had Abbey Clancy and daughter Sophia on the show to discuss the eight-year-old’s modelling debut.
Abbey and Sophia have been working on a Lipsy clothing line, and the topic soon turned to careers, where Lorraine asked if she’d be interested in being a model in future.
But the presenter made a huge mistake when speaking about Abbey’s footballer husband, Peter Crouch. Speaking to Sophia, she asked, “Is dad quite sporty?”
Since Peter Crouch is a former professional striker and played in two World Cups for England, Twitter users were confused by Lorraine’s question.
Many of them voiced their confusion online, criticising the presenter for asking a seemingly obvious question.
One wrote, ‘Is dad sporty? He’s played football for every club in the football league.’
Another added, ‘Did Lorraine just ask if Peter Crouch is “quite sporty”?’
A third said, ‘Is Peter Crouch quite sporty? Oh no #Lorraine’
Lorraine’s mistake hadn’t gone unnoticed, as many used the hashtag to call her out on her strange question.
But despite her previous blunder, Lorraine was shocked to find out that Abbey really wasn’t a fan of football, despite being married to a famous player.
She also admitted she had heard all the stories in her husband’s new book, ‘I Robot: How to be a Footballer 2’ so she didn’t need to read it. She joked that she was a “terrible WAG” for not liking it.
Abbey told Lorraine, “I do not like football at all. As soon as Pete starts talking football I change the subject.”
She also revealed that Peter doesn’t tend to take the kids out to play sport for the day, saying, “You’d think so wouldn’t you Lorraine but no, he doesn’t!”
The couple have both been busy recently following the launch of Peter’s new book, and Abby’s new clothing line in collaboration with Lipsy.
Abbey Clancy and Peter Crouch have four children together – eight-year-old Sophia, three-year-old Liberty Rose, one-year-old Johnny and four-month-old Jack.
They married in 2011, in an intimate wedding surrounded by family and close friends in the summer.
