Have you ever wanted to sip coffee in Friends’ iconic Central Perk café? Thanks to Primark, now you can.
The affordable retailer has created a Central Perk-style coffee shop in its Manchester Market Street store, and the photos are giving us a serious dose of nostalgia. Who else wants to get cosy on that big sofa?
Opening today, Wednesday 12th June, the coffee shop was set up to celebrate the 25th anniversary of the iconic American sitcom. Customers will be able to enjoy all sorts of New York inspired treats, including huge cups of coffee and sprinkle doughnuts that will set you up for a busy day of shopping.
That’s not all; there’ll also be Friends memorabilia for sale, so you can look the part whilst you chill out in your new favourite coffee shop.
We don’t know about you, but this news has made us want to plan a trip to Manchester as soon as possible. Turns out, you don’t have to jet off to New York if you want to spend time in the Central Perk café.
Tim Kelly, Primark’s director of new business development, said ‘We are hugely excited to be bringing the first branded Central Perk café in fashion retail in the UK to the British high street.’
‘Customers can relax and have fun there whilst also enjoying our amazing fashion at amazing prices in our Manchester store.’
Even better news, the company have confirmed it’ll be there permanently!
Although fans are excited about this news, it seems unlikely that a reunion series will ever be hitting our screens. Lisa Kudrow, known for her role as lovable Pheobe, shared her thoughts on a possible reunion and admitted it would be ‘sad’.
Speaking about the sitcom’s future, she said ‘That was about people in their twenties, thirties. The show isn’t about people in their forties, fifties. And if we have the same problems, that’s just sad’.
Maybe it’s time to admit that Friends is over, but we can still live vicariously through them in the new café. We’ll drink to that.
