Ex-TOWIE star Billie Faiers has revealed that she’s had to stop breastfeeding her baby son Arthur.
Billie had made no secret of the fact that breastfeeding was a top priority for her the second time around, after complications meant she was denied the experience with eldest daughter Nelly.
But now the 27-year-old has revealed in an interview with OK! Magazine that she’s had to start bottle feeding Arthur, who was born in March.
‘He wasn’t gaining enough weight with breastfeeding because he was’t getting enough from my milk, so he’s on a special prescribed milk now,’ she said.
‘I loved breastfeeding. I feel sorry for him too because that was his comfort.’
However, despite Billie’s own disappointment, she added that Arthur is growing at a very healthy rate.
‘He has a cow’s milk allergy. At one point he had really bad reflux and was so poorly, but he’s much better now,’ she continued.
‘It was really stressful [at the time], but now he’s massive. He doesn’t stop drinking – he’s such a hungry baby!’
Shortly after Arthur was born, Billie spoke openly about how pleased she was that she was able to breastfeed, after admitting she ‘didn’t know what [she] was doing’ with first child Nelly’, but said that little sister Sam would now be on hand to give her some advice.
She said at the time: ‘With Nelly I had no idea what I was doing, but Samantha is a breastfeeding guru now so she’s been giving me lots of tips. Arthur needed feeding straight away and Samantha helped me to get him to latch on.’
‘I didn’t breastfeed Nelly as it was something I really struggled with, but having Samantha there to help me made it so much easier. I’m not putting any pressure on myself though. I’m not sure how I’m going to juggle breastfeeding and looking after Nelly.’
The sweet moment was captured on the sisters’ reality TV show, The Mummy Diaries, and Sam was on hand to capture the moment on her iPhone – but Billie later revealed that fiancee Greg wasn’t happy about her posting the images online for her thousands of followers.
‘He was just being a typical, stupid man,’ Billie said. ‘His thing is that you don’t have to post pictures with your boobs out.’
‘[But] Samantha has really put breastfeeding on the map for young girls encouraging them not to feel embarrassed to do it in public.’
