Mum shares the important reason she went on holiday without her four-month-old son

A lot of new parents can probably relate

Brittany Aldean, wife of American country singer Jason Aldean, has hit back at critics, explaining why she and her husband took a much-needed adults-only holiday recently without their baby son.

In a recent Instagram post, Brittany explained why she and her husband took the trip without their son, Memphis Aldean Williams, who was born on 2 December 2017.

Posting a loved-up picture of the couple enjoying time in the sun, Brittany wrote: 'Much needed vacay☀️ Just a word of wisdom for all the parent shamers... vacations are ok for new parents to take. Sometimes after being pregnant for almost a year, cooped up in a house for weeks at a time, you need a little sunshine and adult time.'

Directly addressing those who had criticised her, Brittany said: 'IT IS NOT OK to leave your ignorant comments. If you don't agree with something, PLEASE... do me a favour and unfollow me.'

The new mum added: 'You will NOT be missed♥️ And for all the sweet, positive, happy people... we love you and thank you!!💋💋'

After defending her decision to take a much-needed break with her husband, four months after giving birth, the new mum received overwhelming support from other parents online.

One fan wrote: 'Good for you guys! Being a great parent also means taking time for your own mental and physical well being! Have fun!'

Another said: 'It's always worth it to take time to focus on your marriage and you as a new mommy!!!!!! You need that time desperately, life is too short not enjoy it💙'

A third added: 'I agree! This is why a lot of marriages fail. No adult time = stressed unhappy parents. Sometimes you have to just take a moment to breathe!'

Brittany's message clearly resonated with a lot of new parents. The post has received just under 8,000 comments and over 187,000 likes.
