Game of Thrones star Carice van Houten has given birth to her first child.
The actress gave birth to a baby boy on 29th August, welcoming her first child into the world with her partner Guy Pearce, 48.
The high profile couple, both known as respected actors across television and film, are no strangers to the limelight and took to social media to announce their exciting news.
Posting to his Twitter account, Guy told eagerly awaiting fans the name and sex of his new born, tweeting, ‘A cute little package arrived and told us his name is Monte Pearce. We think we’re gonna keep him. Placenta smoothie anyone?’.
He finished his tweet by tagging proud new mum Carice, who replied with baby-themed emojis. Selecting a line of telling emoji symbols, it looks like Carice was depicting a ‘roller coaster’ of emotions, feeling poorly and needing a drink – we can understand that!
The 39-year-old star, who plays ‘Red Priestess’ Melisandre in hit show Game of Thrones, announced the happy news of her pregnancy back in March on her Instagram account.
Referencing one of the famous storylines from the show, she wrote, ‘Yes. It’s true. Let the shadow baby jokes begin.’
Carice has been vocal on social media throughout her pregnancy, sharing this adorable snap of herself in mid July in which she tells her beau Guy how big her pregnant tummy is getting.
Guy, who is known for roles in films such as Iron Man 3 and The Kings Speech has also been keen to talk about awaiting his child on social media.
Earlier this month he reflected on losing his own father, and spoke out on Twitter about becoming a dad himself, tweeting, ‘Aug 6 1976 – Dad never made it home from that test flight. A profound effect, only amplified as I await my own child.’
