'Happy and in love' Ed Sheeran reveals he's engaged to long-term girlfriend Cherry Seaborn

Ed Sheehan has announced that he’s engaged.

The singer revealed his plans to marry his longterm girlfriend Cherry Seaborn on Instagram this weekend.

'Got myself a fiancée just before new year,' gushed Ed, 26.

'We are very happy and in love, and our cats are chuffed as well.'

The picture that Ed used to share the news was truly adorable, showing the redhead with his arms wrapped around his wife-to-be.

Ed and Cherry are both sporting casual ensembles and she flashes a sweet smile as a kiss is planted on her cheek.

The post has been 'liked' close to 5 million times and stars and fans sent congratulatory messages to the duo.

Nicole Scherzinger led the way when it came to celebrities, even quipping that she'll be happy to entertain guests with her dance moves on the big day.

'The cat is super chuffed. I'm soooo happy for y'all!!!!! I'm coming to do a hula dance at the wedding, jk,' the 39-year-old Factor judge said.

'Couldn't imagine a better more beautiful bad ass couple.'

Keen to pass on their well wishes, one follower from Russia left a sweet comment for Ed to read.

'Congratulations! You are so adorable and cute. Wish you all the best. Greetings from Russia,' they said.

Another of Ed's admirers penned some very heartfelt words.

'My smile is twice as wide as yours. @ 64yrs young, this Sheeran music lovin fan cried when you posted about your engagement to Cherry..FINALLY..a crush from high school, a rekindle, led to a proposal,' the fan said.

Ed and Cherry have known each other for years, having both studied at the Thomas Mills High School in Framlingham.

It's thought that the pair have been in a relationship since 2015.
