Ed Sheeran post heartbreaking tribute to 11-year-old fan who died of a brain disorder

Ed Sheeran has posted a heartbreaking tribute to an 11-year-old fan, who sadly passed away of a brain disorder.

The singer took to his Instagram account to pay tribute to the little girl, Melody Driscoll, after she lost her battle with Rett syndrome, a rare genetic disorder that causes mental and physical disability.

Sharing a snap of himself with Melody, the singer: ‘Rest in peace beautiful Melody x’.

Melody first met her idol Ed in 2016, and the two stayed in touch over the years, after her story moved the Perfect hitmaker.

Fans of the singer were also touched by the emotional post, with one saying: ‘This is why I love you. You are so special to some people. I can see in your eyes that you really loved her. And i can also see that she really loved you. She will always keep doing that. I’m sorry sweetheart.’

Another wrote: ‘What a beautiful bond both you and melody will always have no matter what, just that look in her eyes when she looked at you says it all.. fly with the angels beautiful girl xxx’

A third also commented: ‘Oh, rest in peace, melody you are in a better place now melody, what a beautiful young girl👍I send you all my love from the bottom of my heart I’m so sorry!’

Speaking about the singer’s bond with the little girl, Melody’s mum Karina said: ‘He arrived and for the first five minutes Melody was starstruck. He had to show off his tattoos and then she just smiled, the way the two of them reacted together was just so good to watch.’

Karina has also spoken about her daughter’s passing, saying her little loved life.

She told the Croydon Advertiser, mum Karina said: ‘Her heart kept beating right to the end. She loved life, she was a living angel.

‘She was the most amazing and beautiful little girl that there could ever be. Everyone that saw her smile fell in love with her.’
