Alison Hammond has shared a touching tribute to her mother on social media.

The This Morning host’s mum Maria sadly passed away after a battle will liver and lung cancer.

Alison, who rose to fame after appearing on the 2002 series of Big Brother, confirmed the awful news today with a touching Valentine’s Day post, dedicated to her mum.

Explaining that she and her family had laid Maria to rest at her funeral yesterday, Alison posted a pair of photos of her and her look alike mother, both grinning.

Captioning the heartwarming images, Alison penned, ‘Today I dedicate Valentine’s Day to my beautiful. wonderful Mother Maria who passed away from liver and lung cancer . Yesterday my family and I celebrated her amazing life and laid her to rest in a beautiful ceremony she would have been proud of.’

Continuing the lovely message, Alison thanked her loving parent for everything she had done for her, ‘Thank you mummy for giving me the strength to move forward in the knowledge that your ok and with God in Heaven now . I will always remember you and try and make you proud . I love you mum ♥️♥️♥️.’

Lots of Alison’s celebrity friends took to the comment section beneath the post to send their support and condolences.
