It has been reported that pro tennis player Andy Murray and his wife Kim Sears have welcomed their third child together.

It is thought that Kim gave birth to the pair’s first son at a London hospital last week, adding to their existing brood of daughters Sophia, three, and Edie, two.

The Wimbledon champ’s 88-year-old grandfather Roy Erskine has revealed that while he doesn’t know the name of his great grandson yet, that Kim and the baby are well.

He told The Sun, “It's a wee boy, I don't know his name yet. I've seen photos. They're doing fine.

“My wife is away down, she went down this morning.”

When he won the European Open in Antwerp weeks before the birth, Andy joked that he needs to get back into the swing of touring to stop his family growing any further.

“I’ve got two young kids and a third one coming. I’ll have three kids under four years old,” he told The Sunday Times.

“When I’ve been off the tour the last few years my family has got bigger.

“I need to get on the road so we’re done before it gets out of control!”

Ahead of the tournament in Belgium, Andy admitted that he was ready to drop everything and fly home if his son was to arrive early.

Having undergone hip surgery earlier this year, the three time Grand Slam winner also opened up about the encouragement from Kim on getting back into the sport.

“My wife has been a huge support in getting me back on the court.

"She’s helped me fight to keep playing.”

Andy also revealed recently that he doesn’t expect his children to follow in his tennis footsteps, explaining to HELLO! magazine he is simply happy for them to just do what they love.

“I think the more important thing for me is helping them find something to do that they both really love. I’ve been lucky in my life in finding a passion and being able to live that dream every day of my life."

Andy sounds like a lovely father!
