Why Meghan Markle and Prince Harry's son Archie wasn't at Trooping the Colour

The young royal missed the celebrations

Bot Meghan Markle and Prince Harry attended Trooping the Colour, but the newest member of the royal family was missing from the celebrations.

Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor, born last month, wasn’t seen at the Queen’s official birthday, which left fans speculating why he’d been left behind. Previously, Her Majesty had brought three-month Prince Edward onto the balcony in 1964.

The best guess for Archie’s absence is that he was simply ‘too young’ to attend the celebrations. Ingrid Seward, Editor of Majesty Magazine, said ‘The Queen, through her private secretary, could easily have said Archie was far too young for the Palace balcony, which indeed he is.’

‘She herself took baby Prince Edward onto the balcony in June 1964 but he was three months old and she was the Queen so she could do as she liked!’

‘Her view would be that it is an event to be enjoyed by children, but no younger than Prince Louis as they must be able to behave properly’

Although not confirmed, this insight could explain why Archie missed out this time around. Hopefully royal fans will be able to see Archie’s first Trooping the Colour appearance next year.

We’re still waiting to see more photos of the newest royal too, as so far we’ve only had a few glimpses of the young Sussex. Meghan shared a sweet photo of him on Mother’s Day, as well as his first public appearance.

Despite Archie’s absence, fans got to see Prince Louis’ hilarious debut, where he charmed crowds with his frantic waving and funny facial expressions. The young royal almost knocked Camilla’s hat off with all his waving, too!

The Duchess of Cambridge had to discourage the prince from doing this during the celebrations too, once describing him as ‘keeping her on her toes’. One thing's for sure, he's growing up to be quite the character, and hopefully we'll get to see both him and Archie on the balcony next year.
