We wanted to share the excitement with parents of new babies all over the UK by giving them special bear hugs to commemorate such a special day.’

Each gifted bear will have its own tag and birth certificate to show their ‘noble’ birth, alongside their little owner.

Hospitals include Dumfries and Galloway Royal Infirmary, Gloucester Royal hospitals and Royal Bournemouth.

Parents can take their little one to a Build-A-Bear store during their birthday month and a child will be able to make their very own birthday bear for the price of the age they are set to turn.

The birthday bear includes a photo frame, birthday sticker and hat.
