Eight-year-old Dexter is doing something amazing for his dad who has cancer

Dexter Dynamou will be doing an 8-hour penalty shoot out to raise money for his dad, who has testicular cancer.

Money raised from Dexter’s shoot out will go to the Bristol Haematology and Oncology Centre that’s caring for his dad.

This Sunday (13th October), he’ll be shooting penalties non-stop from 10am to 6pm at an indoor sports centre, who has donated the space for free after hearing about his challenge.

Dexter has a JustGiving page for the event, where he wrote, ‘Me and my dad are big football fans and that’s what we love. We also love Arsenal, even though we can’t play football together at the moment. And I thought the best thing to raise money is to show him and other people my football skills.’

‘All the money that i raise i want to donate to Bristol oncology centre that are doing a brilliant job helping my Dad.’ Dexter added.

Speaking about his target, he said, ‘I want to help raise awareness to testicular cancer and hopefully raise between £15 – £20.’ But he’s currently got over £7,000 in the pot, all going to a brilliant cause.

Recently, he appeared on Good Morning Britain where he was given an Arsenal shirt to wear during his shoot out. And, of course, it’s got the number 8 on it!

Arsenal players David Seaman, Freddie Ljunberg and Robert Pires also signed a football for Dexter.

Good Morning Britain shared the heartwarming moment where Dexter received his signed football, and it’s a lovely watch!

They wrote: ‘The look on his face is priceless! ⚽️😍

‘This is the moment football fan, Dexter Dynamou, is presented with his very own football signed by Arsenal legends ahead of his 8-hour penalty shoot out to raise awareness of testicular cancer, which his dad is battling.’

BBC Radio Bristol shared more about Ben’s battle with cancer, and Dexter’s fundraiser. The video features an interview with the pair, as well as his fundraising goal.

Dexter raised over £3,500 in a few days and told BBC Radio Bristol that ‘he shouted for about two minutes because he was so amazed’.

Lots of the donations have come from complete strangers, and many have offered words of support for both Dexter and Ben.

Best of luck to Dexter this weekend, we’re sure he’ll smash it!
