Emma Weymouth has opened up on surrogacy.

The Strictly Come Dancing star, who just this week competed in her first episode of the BBC show, has opened up on surrogacy, revealing that she nearly died in childbirth.

‘It's a hard topic to talk about,’ she told the Daily Mail’s Weekend magazine. ‘But the more honest you are, the more people open up in return.’

The 33-year-old revealed that she suffered from a bleed to the brain during childbirth back in 2014, nearly dying in the process.

The mum-of –two explained that she had developed a life-threatening condition called hypophysitis, which is inflammation of the pituitary gland that controls other main hormone glands in the body.

She ended up being forced to have a Caesarean section to give birth to her first child, John, safely.

The viscountess then went on to have her second child via surrogate, after being advised that it would be too dangerous for her to give birth again.

Emma said that she finds it difficult to talk about the subject, but that she is grateful for being able to be a mother to two children.

‘So many people struggle to have children and it's not unusual to go down a slightly different path if you need to,’ she told the magazine.

‘I am so grateful for my boys. They’re my entire life.’

The Strictly star is married to Ceawlin Thynn, Viscount Weymouth, who she tied the knot with back in 2013.

She is currently partnered up with Strictly professional Aljaž Škorjanec, who yesterday took to his Instagram page to share his excitement at dancing with Emma in the new series.

Emma commented on the post, writing: ‘Awww can’t wait to dance with you too! So exciting 💃🏻🕺🏽✨’.
