Kate Middleton shares personal Instagram post for the first time - and it's an important message on family

The Duchess of Cambridge has personally posted for the first time on the Kensington Royal Instagram account to share an emotional message.

The mum-of-three used social media to reflect on her and William's time in Pakistan – and the importance of family.

While the Instagram account – which has 10.2 million followers – has documented the Cambridge family’s whereabouts for years, this is the first time the Duchess of Cambridge has personally signed off a post.

Alongside a series of photographs documenting the couple’s visit to the SOS Village, an organisation in Lahore that provides a home and support to more than 150 young people, Kate Middleton wrote, ‘The community at the SOS Village is built around family - and the best possible family you could imagine - where everyone comes together to nurture, love and protect the children in their care.

‘These vulnerable children, many who have come through traumatic circumstances, are nurtured in this caring environment and are able to form these quality relationships that they so desperately need to thrive.’

She signed off the message, writing simply ‘Catherine.’

The couple actually visited the SOS Children’s Village twice during the Royal Tour of Pakistan, due to travel complications resulting in an unplanned extra night in Lahore.

According to People Magazine, Catherine saw this as an opportunity to revisit the orphanage that had such a big effect on her.

"Kate, 37, asked aides if they could factor in another visit to the place that had such an effect on her,” claims royal reporter Simon Perry.

“Sources said it also enabled the couple to delve deeper into the stories of the children, and the graduates, of the remarkable set-up."

During their time there the couple took part in a cricket match with the children, as well as arts and crafts with the children. William was reportedly gifted a bracelet by one of the children, which he was seen wearing for the rest of the day, according to Hello Magazine.

Speaking to CNN royal correspondent Max Foster, Catherine elaborated further on her experience at the SOS Children's Village. "I think William and I really wanted to come and see the Village,” she said.

"You know, there’s so many vulnerable women here, but they’ve really used their positivity and the support that the village here provides them really to support and protect the next generation, the children in their care, and give them the best possible start to their future lives."
