Kate Wright has shared a lovely Mother’s Day tribute to Rio’s late wife Rebecca on Mother’s Day.
Kate is often praised by fans for how she’s handling her role as a stepmother, ever since she started her relationship with Rio Ferdinand.
After celebrating Mother’s Day on Sunday – her first after they announced their engagement – the former TOWIE star shared a picture of a card that included a picture of Rio’s late wife Rebecca.
Alongside the picture, she wrote: ‘Lovely Mother’s Day dinner with family, we celebrated all 6 of us today 💗 how lucky we all are to have hearts that can love after so much pain. Happy Mother’s Day to everyone💗’.
Responding to the sweet tribute, fans of the reality TV star commented to praise her on how she’s keeping the Rebecca’s memory alive.
One wrote:’Amazing what a wonderful thoughtful beautiful idea❤️You are the best in every way❤️Rio and the children are very lucky to have you❤️’.
Another said: ‘What a special woman you are. I’m sure Rebecca worked her magic from heaven in choosing you to love her babies.’
A third commented: ‘you truly beautiful inside and out how thoughtful such a beauty . How lucky are the gorgeous children to have such a wonderful person 💖💙’.
Another even confessed the post got them teary: ‘Choked me up too! 😢💖 beautiful way of looking at it!’
The Essex native started dating Rio back in 2017, and moved in to his family home just a few months later – fully assuming the role of stepmother.
She opened up about the experience last year on This Morning, confessing that they’ve tried to make a conscious effort to include the children in their relationship from the beginning.
She said: ‘A really big part in our relationship, and it working with the children, is that everything we’ve done we’ve included them in.
‘So, from the first date, to us moving in, to him asking me to be his girlfriend. Everything we have done we’ve included them in. The kids were part of it. So it feels like I wasn’t taking their Dad away from them.
‘Of course, Rebecca is their mum. You only have one mum. A mum is irreplaceable. There is a special room in the house for their mum and their nan. It has all photos. We celebrate big occasions, Rebecca’s birthday and Mother’s Day. We all go to the cemetery together. We do talk about their mum.’
The pair announced their engagement in November, but haven’t revealed whether they’ve set a date for their big day yet.
