Matthew Wright announces wife Amelia is expecting a baby after an eight year IVF struggle

The couple have been inundated with well wishes from fans.

Matthew Wright and his wife Amelia have taken to social media to announce the happy news that they are finally expecting a baby together, after an eight year struggle to conceive.

The former Wright Stuff host and Amelia have both posted happy messages onto Twitter, confirming their news.

Revealing they've finally succeeded in fulfilling their dream with their last IVF attempt, Amelia writes: 'After 8 challenging years of IVF, we are thrilled to announce that on our last roll of the dice, we got lucky and are expecting a baby girl. Woo hoo!'

Matthew has also shared a message with fans, writing: 'ta for all your kind words re @mrsameliawright and pregnancy.'

Continuing, the TV personality added: 'She’s been thru hell she really has. Feel super blessed to have such lovely followers Xx'

Following up, Matthew also shared a message that he is feeling 'overwhelmed' by all the love.

Friends and fans have been very quick to share their well wishes with the couple, who have been married since 2010.

One user shares: 'She’s going to be a very lucky little girl to have you two as parents. Just the best news I’ve heard for a long time.'

Before learning of the happy news, Matthew decided to quit The Wright Show after an 18 year run.

Appearing on ITV's This Morning, the 53-year-old revealed that his long-running IVF struggles had been one of the major factors in his decision to leave the Channel 5 show.

Speaking with the hosts Eamonn Holmes and Ruth Langsford, Matthew explained: 'My wife and I, quite well known, we’d had long running IVF. Eight years of IVF, no joy. So personally things were pretty stressed and strained.'
