Michelle Heaton has faced backlash after opening up about mum guilt.

The mum-of-two, who earlier this year spoke about her cancer fears for her children, took to social media to vent about how she was ‘gutted’ about how she made her daughter feel during a recent video call.

She posted on Instagram a black and white image that displayed an emotional video call between her and her six-year-old daughter, Faith.

Alongside the monochrome screenshot, that showed the mother and daughter both in tears, she wrote a caption explaining why they were ‘a bit upset’.

‘My heart is broken,’ wrote the stage actress. ‘My little girl was so upset I got sent home with a migraine from tech day in panto,’ she explained.

‘I hate letting people down so I got a bit upset when I spoke to her.. she gutted to see me upset.’

She added: ‘I’m more gutted I made her cry’.

Some followers left messages of support for Michelle, writing: ‘Aww it’s so tough being a working mum but we all do it for our kids and they will realise that when they are a little older. Hope you feel better soon and a good nights sleep can make things feel so much better in the morning’ and ‘You’re showing her good values of hard work sacrifice and love, she will understand in years to come and be so proud of you’.

However, others were quick to question the former Liberty X member’s parenting techniques, saying shouldn’t be offloading onto her young child.

‘Is she not a bit young to be taking all of your emotional issues on board?’ wrote one Instagram user.

But other fans then jumped to Michelle’s defence, saying that her daughter is ‘hardly taking on all her emotional issues’ and that they think it’s ‘fantastic that her child can open up to her’.
