Long haul flights can be stressful, especially when you’ve got little ones to contend with. But one mum shared a brilliant hack to make that journey more comfortable.
Taking to Facebook, blogger Adele Barbaro - also known as The Real Mumma - shared a post on board an Air New Zealand flight in economy class.
Alongside pictures, she explained how passengers could turn a row of seats into a handy bed by purchasing a third seat.

Her post read: ‘We have arrived in Hollywood safe and sound!
‘We got to experience the Air New Zealand SkyCouch on our way here and for those that don’t know what it is, it is a unique economy option where your entire row becomes a bed. So, if there is 2 of you travelling, you can purchase a third seat at half price and you will get the entire row to yourself.’
Explaining how to create the bed, she added: ‘The legs rest all rise to meet the chair in front and create a completely flat, large play or sleep area. Paul and Harvey had a bed and so did Chloe and I. It’s the next best thing to business (but way cheaper) and perfect for long haul flights with young families. And we all slept.’
‘We are a little thrown by the time difference but it’s nice to arrive and start our holiday without being sleep deprived!

‘Feel free to ask any questions about it and check out Air New Zealand if you have a long haul flight planned, it was so comfy', the post concluded.
Other mums were quick to comment on the post, with one sharing their own experience with the SkyCouch: ‘Best thing we did was get the sky couch for our holiday kids slept 7 out of 14 hour flight that’s a win for me.’
Another praised the economy class option, writing: ‘So glad the company thought of us passengers & put this in place! So much easier for parents ❤️’.
One asked about the blankets and pillows, to which Adele replied: ‘They supply it all!’

According to Air New Zealand’s website, the Economy Skycouch is a ‘world first’, and allows passengers to enjoy a lot more room: ‘When you upgrade to an Economy Skycouch, you get the entire row to yourself. It's totally private.’
But if you’re not flying with this particular airline, you could always DIY it, and bring your own travel pillows and blankets to keep your little ones comfortable during a long flight. Just make sure you have enough space!
