A mum has shared the genius hack she used to give her son the play kitchen he wanted without breaking the bank…

It’s hard to say no when your little ones ask for something, but sometimes they have expensive taste and money is tight.

However, if your little one ever asks you for a play kitchen and you can’t afford to splurge on an expensive one, then this mum’s hack to save money might be a lifesaver.

Claire Hall, from Kent, shared pictures of how she got around buying an expensive play kitchen for her little boy using an old wooden toy box, and old kitchen accessories.

Alongside pictures of the adorable kitchen, the mum wrote on Facebook group Extreme Couponing And Bargains UK: ‘My little boy has been mentioning a mud kitchen for a while but the penny's are a little tight this month so we made one 😁 1 old wooden toy box, 1 old kitchen bowl, some old coat hooks plus a few donated kitchen bits and look what we made!

Other parents rushed to congratulate the mum on the clever idea, with many saying they will be trying the hack themselves.

One said: ‘Brilliant well done hope other parents follow suit on this, hours and hours of entertainment for the little ones and big kids 😁’.

Another wrote: ‘Brilliant idea, get the kids to help build it as well. Looks fab and better than shop bought.’

A third added: ‘Better than a bought one, looks great.’

The mum confessed that she was left ‘gobsmacked’ by everyone’s reaction to her post, and also added that her little boy likes it so much he even invited a friend round to see the kitchen.

She said: ‘I'm chuffed to bits with it and my little boy loves it! He invited his little friend round to see it today. Gob smacked by the reaction from everyone😮’.
