BBC presenter Steph McGovern welcomes first child with partner

Steph McGovern has welcomed her first child.

The BBC presenter took to her social media to reveal that she has welcomed her first child.

Taking to her Twitter account to announce the exciting news that she had given birth, the financial journalist confirmed that she had become a mother while joking about the smells that come hand in hand with early parenthood.

In a pinned Tweet, the business expert wrote, ‘Well hello world, just surfaced to let you know that we now have a daughter!

Born on Monday morning just as @BBCBreakfast was wrapping up. We’re all fine and dandy. Just getting used to the eau de sick/poo I am now regularly wearing. #babylife ❤️ 👩‍👩‍👧’.

The news presenter’s Tweet was met with a host of responses with fans, friends and acquaintances wishing her congratulations.

The post received a huge response with thousands of likes and over a thousand comments in just an hour.

A stream of fellow journalists and TV hosts left their well wishes for the presenter, including BBC’s Sonali Shah and Katherine Downes, Dragon’s Den Theo Paphitis and ITV’s Rachel Sweeney, writing, ‘Aw congratulations to you both! Can’t wait to meet her x’, ‘Eek! Welcome to mat life! Xxx’, ‘Congratulations Steph & a big welcome to your new addition!’ and ‘Huge congratulations, Steph! What a lucky little baba! ❤️🎉💐’.

Fellow BBC star Mike Bushell, who is currently taking part in the this year’s series of BBC dancing competition Strictly Come Dancing, also congratulated the new mum, writing, ‘Wow wow. This is the most amazing news. Huge love and congratulations and bet she’s just gorgeous. Hope all going well and you’re getting the odd bit of sleep. Baby joy’.

This is the first child for Steph, who announced her pregnancy via her Twitter page back in July.

The star welcomed her baby with her girlfriend, whose identity she has not revealed.
