Girl finds heartbreaking letter from a father to his late mother tied to a balloon

We defy you not to well up while reading this...

A girl has found a heartbreaking letter written to a man's late mother attached to a balloon, which was caught in a tree.

Courtney Wiatt was walking past the tree when she noticed some deflated balloons caught in the branches. Upon taking a closer look, she found something very unique and special - a personal letter from a man to his late mother.

Courtney was so shocked to find such a special and vulnerable note belonging to a stranger that she saved the letter, and has since shared it on her Twitter account.

The letter was from a man who was not only a son, but a husband and a father himself, who wanted to reach out to his mother who had passed away and tell her about what was going on in his life.

In his letter he tells of the joys of his new born son and expresses how much he loves his wife. Courtney loved the letter so much she wanted to share it with her Twitter followers, and it's since received over 42k likes and 18k retweets.

The letter reads, 'Happy birthday! I just wanted to tell you how much I miss you. We're doing really good. Nelson's started walking and getting into trouble. He's a little stinker :) but we love him. He such a joy to be around. Kara is doing good as well. She is such a great example for me and I hope I am being a good husband to her.

'I wish you could be here to see them. I know you're looking down from heaven all the time. I miss you like crazy and I hope you are having a good time up there. There's so many things I want to ask you and so many things I want to tell you. But I guess it will have to wait. Love you mom'.

Courtney's tweet has received comments from people all over the world, some of whom thanked her for sharing the letter while others have criticised her for sharing something so personal.

'So I think this is awesome. I lost a best friend/sister and we did this same thing. And I only hope that if someone found' one wrote, while another added: 'my mom & I do this every yr for my sister. obv we know someone will find it & we post it as well. you did nothing wrong 😌'

One Twitter user said: 'DISRESPECTFUL. Not only you read someone's personal letter, but you also showed it to the world,' and another seemed to agree, posting: 'I don't think it's fair to put something on here that isn't your own. The choice belongs to who wrote it and he chose not to.'
