Jack Osbourne’s wife Lisa suffers miscarriage

Jack Osbourne and his wife Lisa have released a statement confirming the very sad news that they have lost the baby boy that they were expecting.

The statement, posted on Lisa’s blog, read: “I have been dreading this announcement… I needed some time before being able to say it. Jack and I lost our baby boy last week. Having a late term miscarriage is by far the hardest thing either of us have ever had to go through. We appreciate all of your prayers and ask for privacy and respect during this time. It’s important to stay hopeful and optimistic through life’s toughest moments. We never know why things like this happen. All we can do is trust in God and know he has a plan for our lives. Jack and Lisa.”

The couple, who are parents to 16-month old daughter Pearl, only announced Lisa’s pregnancy last month, when Lisa was in her second trimester.

While it’s estimated that 1 in 7 pregnancies will end in misarriage, it’s rare for a miscarriage to happen after twelve weeks, with many taking place before the woman even realises she’s pregnant. It’s estimated that 80% of miscarriages occur in the first trimester, and once pregnancy progresses into the second trimester as in Lisa’s case, the overall risk of miscarriage is around just 3%.

The majority of mothers that suffer a miscarriage then go on to have healthy pregnancies and carry babies to full term.

Our thoughts are with the young family at this very sad time.
