Kaye Adams has sadly revealed that her mother Cathie has passed away.

The Loose Women announced the devastating news on Facebook, writing: 'She fought so very hard to stay with us but it was not to be. In the early hours of Sunday 29th July, we lost our beloved mum, Cathie.

'She was a fearless force of nature who loved us ferociously, as we loved her in return. We are forever indebted to the wonderful staff of Ward A22 at Forth Valley Royal Hospital who cared for mum - and us - with the greatest of kindness.

'She rests now with her darling Duncan, Mr and Mrs A together again. Mum - your strength will carry us forward but you will remain in our hearts forever. Love always. K x'

The mum-of-two also took to Twitter to thank the staff of the hospital was mum has been in. She wrote: 'We are forever indebted to the wonderful staff of Ward A22 @NHSForthValley who cared for our mum Cathie before she passed away on July 29th. They gave us comfort at a time of desolation and, for that, we are grateful.'

Fans of the panellist were quick to offer her words of support on social media, with one saying: 'Sorry to hear about your mum Kaye. I lost mine on New Years Day. 💔 The fog will clear in time.'

Another wrote on Twitter: 'Oh Kaye I am so sorry to hear your sad news. Try to take comfort knowing your amazing Mum & Dad are together again. Sending loving thoughts to you and the family. Rest in Peace Cathie 🌹❤️'.

A third also added: 'Oh Kaye, I am so sad to hear that your beloved mother passed away. I hope you are surrounded by love during this incredibly sad time. May your sweet mother rest in peace.'

The devastating news comes just over a year after the TV star lost her dad to dementia, in February last year.

Our thoughts are with Kaye and her family at this difficult time.
