Lisa Riley reveals the reason why she’s relieved she won’t have children

Lisa Riley, who recently revealed her IVF heartache after being told she won’t be able to have children, has explained why she’s relieved she won’t become a mum.

The star revealed she was engaged to her partner Al in May, a few weeks after she sadly said she wouldn’t be able to have children.

But now Lisa seems to have to terms with the fact that she won’t be having little ones, and explained why she’s actually relieved.

The 42-year-old lost her mum, who died of cancer aged 58, six years ago this month, and says she wouldn’t like to put her children through the same painful experience of loss.

‘I would never put a human being through what I went through and what I’m still going through today’, she told The Mirror.

‘That grief is the worst emotion in the living memory of man. When you had that unbreakable bond me and my mum had, and it’s still there, and you can’t do anything, it’s a killer. I thought I’d never climb back out from that and I wouldn’t wish that on my worst enemy in the world.’

Lisa revealed in April that she won’t be able to have children, as doctors told her any IVF attempts would likely result in failure.

She told The Mirror at the time: ‘Finding out that I was unlikely to get pregnant was a blow. But I refuse to be defined by that. People think women need to have a child to complete themselves, but that just isn’t the case.’

After excluding children from her future plans, the former Emmerdale star is focusing on her wedding to partner Al, and says she will probably skip the ‘big white wedding’ and just elope.

‘The big white wedding, it’s not me. Even my dad told me I’d just ring up and go, “We’re in Toronto, we got married yesterday”. That’ll be me, it’ll just happen’, she said.

The actor announced the happy news of her engagement in May, by posting a selfie of her and her beautiful engagement ring.

She wrote at the time: ‘Yes I can now confirm the rumours are true….I have got engaged…my soul mate and best mate and love of my life Al is the best thing to have ever happened to me….we have absolutely NO date set for ANY wedding day, just happy together…zero fuss, just firmed our togetherness.,and got sick of having to keep switching fingers with my ring🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣SERIOUSLY OVER THE MOON!!! Thanks for your messages 😘😘😘😘😘😘😘’.
