The Duchess of Cambridge was admitted to the Lindo Wing of St Mary's Hospital in London in the early stages of labour at 6am this morning.   Clarence House tweeted the news: 'Her Royal Highness The Duchess of Cambridge has been admitted to St. Mary's Hospital, Paddington, London in the early stages of labour.   Another tweet confirmed: The Duchess travelled by car from Kensington Palace to the Lindo Wing at St. Mary's Hospital with The Duke of Cambridge.' A spokesman later added that the couple travelled to the hospital without a police escort, adding 'things are progressing as normal.'

Kensington Palace have said that Kate went into labour naturally at the palace this morning and that she was 'very well' when admitted to hospital.

Kate is being looked after by a top medical team, including the Queen's former gynaecologist Marcus Setcehll, who delivered both the Countess of Wessex's children, and the Queen's current gynaecologist, Alan Farthing.

Prince Charles has been having a giggle with wellwishers at York Minster today (pictured). After receiving cheers of 'congratulations', the Prince of Wales said to a woman in the crowd, 'Do you know something I don't?'

Crowds of royal supporters have been excitedly gathering outside, including 78-year-old Terry Hutt, who's been sleeping rough on a bench outside the hospital for 12 days, now that's dedication!

New reports from Bucklebury, Kate's hometown, say that whilst residents of the Berkshire village are busy putting up bunting to celebrate the royal baby's arrival, council workers are busy putting out traffic cones in preparation for when the Duchess arrives with her newborn baby.

The gates to the Middleton family home are firmly shut and there is a police presence on hand.

Supermarket ASDA are definitely more than ready for the royal baby to arrive, painting this special parking space at Kate and Wills' local supermarket in Llangefni, Anglesey.

We can't wait to hear whether we have a future King or Queen of England!
