Hollywood star Mel Gibson has welcomed his ninth child to the world, his first with girlfriend Rosalind Ross.
Mel, 61, and girlfriend Rosalind, 26, are said to have welcomed their new baby in Los Angles with the news being confirmed by a representative for the couple.
The happy couple named their new son, who was born on Friday 20th January at a healthy 5 pounds and 5 ounces, Lars Gerard Gibson.
Rosalind is a scriptwriter and known for being a former champion equestrian vaulter. She began dating Mel two years ago when she applied for a job at his production company Icon.
Mel is already the proud father of eight children, seven of the offspring with his former wife Robyn Moore.
The Oscar-winning filmmaker has daughter named Hannah, 36, and six sons including twins Edward and Christian, 34, William, 31, Louis, 28, Milo, 26, and Thomas, 17.
Mel and Robyn separated in 2006 and their divorce was finalised in 2011.
But that isn’t the end of Mel’s brood, with him also cherishing a 7-year-old daughter, Lucia, with his ex-girlfriend, Russian singer-songwriter Oksana Grigorieva.
Mel and Rosalind are known for being notoriously private and news of their pregnancy emerged through a source to People magazine in September. A friend of theirs was quoted at the time saying, ‘Mel and Rose are so excited about the baby…’
‘Mel loves being a dad and he and Rose can’t wait to be parents together. The last two years have been some of his happiest years he’s ever had.’
Rosalind was pictured showing off her baby bump earlier this month when she attended the Golden Globes with Mel, where he was nominated for Best Director for his film Hacksaw Ridge. She looked positively glowing in a grey silk gown which had a high neck and skimmed her bump.
Congratulations to the happy couple!
