Actor Russell has revealed he is taking matters into his own hands to become a father.
Despite his recent split, Russell Tovey won’t let single life stop him from welcoming a child into the world – having revealed plans to potentially have a baby via surrogate.
Russell, who recently split from his fiancé Steve Brockton, has shared with The Gay Times his burning desire to become a father.
The 36-year-old explained: ‘I remember being at school, junior school, and already wanting to be a dad,’
The newly-single actor then added that he will wait till he’s 40 to meet a partner, and if that doesn’t happen then he’s taking initiative and doing it all alone.
Russell expanded: ‘Now I’m 36, I’m giving myself three years. If I haven’t met someone that wants kids I’m going to do it by myself.’
Explaining he is yet to definitively decide which route to take, Russell added: ‘All the options haven’t been completely explored but whatever way I’m going to do it, I’m going to do it.’
Russell announced he was single once again back in June of this year, via an Instagram chat with fans.
After being quizzed on his relationship with rugby coach Steve, one follower asked if he was still with the sportsman – to which Russell responded ‘no darling’.
The couple announced they were engaged to be wed in February of this year, with Russell telling the MailOnline that it was unexpected.
‘Completely unexpected but very very happy and looking forward to having a proper party to celebrate when back in London,’ he said.
The reasons for Russell and Steve’s split is yet to be confirmed by either party.
Whilst Russell may be suffering a bout of baby fever, his professional life is going from strength to strength.
In fact, the Quantico star has recently opened up about his decision to begin accepting homosexual roles – a decision he says made his career.
Speaking with The Guardian, Russell shares: ‘For so long, as a young actor, I had this anxiety about making sure I could get straight roles, and now I know that’s not necessary. The gay roles are the best for me. Being gay has made my career.’
Let’s hope its big baby news for Russell soon!
