How to make Easter plant pots from things you already have in the house

Nothing says spring like blooming flowers and pops of pastel colours. Plant the seed of giving this season by making cheery Easter craft plant pots for loved ones.

They are excellent gifts and will save you pounds otherwise spent on buying overly priced chocolates. They are also extremely simple to make, as you will likely have most of the supplies lying around your house or backyard.

Older children will enjoy painting the glass mason jars, planting the spring bulbs and putting smiles on the faces of those they give the plant pots to. Once complete, adding name or message tags to each gift creates a personalized touch that friends will appreciate.

You really can’t go wrong practicing your green fingers this spring – or any other season for that matter. You can reuse the idea for different times of the year by changing the colour palette for the occasion, including birthdays and Christmas. But don’t forget to make a few extras to keep in your home – the kids will love watching their creations grow right before their very own eyes!

You will need

  • Jam jars
  • Yellow, White, Green and Blue acrylic paint
  • Paper tags
  • Marker pens
  • String
  • Step 1

Pour some acrylic paint into a jar and roll it to move the paint around. Add more paint if needed, and continue until the inside of the jar is fully covered.

    Step 2

Allow to completely dry for a day or so.

    Step 3

Meanwhile, decorate some tags with Easter greetings to tie around the top of each jar with string.

    Step 4

When the paint is dry, ¾ fill the jars with some compost and plant a spring bulb inside.
