Marks and Spencer have supersized popular cake Colin the Caterpillar and are now selling a 2kg version of him!
Weighing an incredible 2290 grams, the cake features no artificial colours, artificial flavourings or preservatives.
A description on Marks and Spencer’s website reads: ‘Colin has just got even bigger!
‘A giant chocolate sponge roll filled with chocolate buttercream, covered in milk chocolate with a decorated white chocolate face and sugar coated milk chocolate beans finished with a personalised leaf decoration. Iced with a message of your choice.’
And it can be all yours for £40 – which may seem like an extreme price for an M&S cake but it does claim to feed 40 people.
Judging by the reviews, supersized Colin is going down a treat with customers.
One person wrote: ‘I bought the giant catterpillar and was immensly impressed. The children loved it, the taste was great, and the service impeccable! Very highly recommended, I now wish we’d bought two as everyone wanted a second helping!!!’
Another said: ‘Ordered this giant caterpillar cake as a surprise for my daughter’s 16th birthday. We were all thrilled by the size and quality of the cake. The cake itself is huge, long and wide. The chocolate icing, sponge and filling was absolutely delicious and loved by everyone who ate it. Well Done M&S!’
A third added: ‘We got this cake for our daughter’s third birthday party. It was a big hit with her and her friends! Easily fed 30 children plus some parents, with some cake left over. Lovely rich chocolately taste. Definitely recommended!’
And a fourth said: ‘Was worried that a bigger version of this cake might not live up to its expectations but it did!’
As well as a giant version of Colin, M&S are also offering little diddy baby caterpillar cakes, which are adorable!
Like their larger counterpart, the mini caterpillars are delicious chocolate coated sponge rolls, with a soft centre of chocolate butter cream.
The adorable mini caterpillars can be bought in packs of 25 for £12 from M&S.
