Co-op launches baked mac and cheese topped with pigs in blankets

Christmas is all about food, food, food.

And this festive season sure has brought with it some weird and wonderful gastronomic twists, including Brussels sprouts tea, Christmas tree crisps and even mulled wine cheese.

And while we can get on board with the mulled wine cheese (to be honest any cheese would go down well with us), the other combinations are slightly…questionable.

But now the universe has brought together two of our favourite foods and we are so here for it.

Supermarket Co-op has launched baked mac and cheese, each topped with a pig in blanket.

The everyday store has combined the two popular side dishes to make the ultimate treat to munch on alongside your Christmas dinner.

Their Irresistible Mac & Pigs, which are made with Somerset vintage cheddar, are available in store for only £4 for one box, or you can take advantage of the store’s offer and get two boxes for £7.

The only drawback? They only come in individual bite-sized portions, rather than a whole tray bake.

But with six in a box there’s enough to go around.

However, if this is one combination that you just find too weird to try, head over to Marks & Spencer for their Christmassy take on pigs in blankets.

You can now get two feet worth of the festive trimming from the luxury food shop.

They have followed suit of other supermarkets like Aldi and Asda who have released foot-long pigs in blankets this year, but have gone just that extra step to give you their added touch of indulgence.

Their extra-sized offering comes in a pack of two, meaning you get two-feet worth of porky goodness.

Plus, at a whopping 670g a packet, against Asda’s 650g and Aldi’s 200g, they’re the heaviest on the market.

You can get the super-sized trimmings in store for only £5 a packet, though we might need more than one box of these beauties.
