Emma Bunton has been announced as the new host of the US version of the Great British Bake Off.
The mum-of-two and former Spice Girl will be appearing on screens later this year in The Great American Baking Show alongside US TV host, comedian and former football player Anthony Spice Adams.
Paul Hollywood will also act as judge for a second time, after joining the hit show in series three, and will be pouring his critical eye over cakes, bakes and more alongside co-judge Sherry Yard – an award-winning US pastry chef.
Commenting on being snapped up by the ABC network, the 42-year-old told the Daily Mail. She said: ‘This is my dream job. Christmas time, eating cake and having such a brilliant time with Spice, Sherry and Paul.’
Giving further insight into the show, Emma told listeners on the Heart Radio breakfast she co-hosts that she got to sample ‘cakes, pastries, biscuits, which I have to call cookies!’
She also added: ‘I have actually filmed some of this and I was like ‘IT’S BISCUIT WEEK!’ and they were like ‘No! It’s cookie week’.’
And when co-host Jamie Theakston quipped that she needed to watch out for Paul, she joked: ‘I did watch out for him he can be trouble! Don’t look in his eyes!’
Continuing, Emma gushed about the joys of working alongside Paul, saying: ‘Paul’s great fun! I had lots of fun with Paul. He’s got a great sense of humour.’
The programme is made by Love Productions, who also make Channel 4’s Great British Bake Off, so we’re keeping our fingers crossed that they’ll be the same mix of baking banter and emotions rising and falling as quickly as a soufflé, just like the current series of GBBO.
