Iceland launches first ever halloumi burger just in time for summer

Frozen supermarket Iceland has launched its first ever halloumi burger and fans are bound to be rushing for their freezers.

The nation has become obsessed with halloumi. From halloumi fries to halloumi-flavoured crisps - we want it all.

And, with summer just around the corner, Iceland are pulling out all the stops with its latest barbecue addition – a halloumi burger.

So, step aside Nandos, you’re not the only ones offer a tasty halloumi burger.

Cheese lovers are excited for Iceland’s first ever Halloumi Burger at just £2.50 for two 90g burgers.

It’s the first ever full-size frozen halloumi burger available in supermarkets.

At 90g of halloumi per burger halloumi shoppers will get almost 50 per cent more cheese compared to alternative burgers offers at other supermarkets including ASDA, Tesco and Sainsbury’s.

Iceland’s full-size Halloumi burger is made of a patty of halloumi cheese, which is then coated in crispy breadcrumbs.

And, shoppers can enjoy these cheesy snacks cooked in the oven or thrown on the barbecue from frozen – which makes them an ideal partner for the unpredictable British summertime weather.

Iceland recommends serving the Cypriot speciality in a brioche bun with mounds of fresh, crunchy salad and a dollop of hommus.

You’ll be pleased to know you can get your hands on these halloumi burgers both in store or online, but Iceland warns they re only available for a limited time.

And, if they’re anything like Aldi’s sell-out halloumi fries we suggest you hurry and get running to your freezers.

In April, budget supermarket Aldi were forced to limit shoppers to only two boxes per customers because their cheesy bites were so popular.

Iceland suggests pairing the halloumi burger with their 100% British beef burgers, sold at £2 for a whopping 681g meat, to make the ultimate barbecue treat.
