Aldi reveals HUGE change to their stores – and it’s happening soon

Aldi

We love Aldi, and fans of the discount supermarket will be pleased to know that they’re planning to increase the number of stores by 2025.

Aldi are opening 55 new branches across London high streets, including standard-sized supermarkets and smaller ‘Local’ stores which were trialled earlier this year.

They’re planning to open over 100 new stores in the next two years, which could create around 5,000 new jobs across the country.

New Aldi Local stores sell essentials such as food and drinks to go, ideal for the work lunchtime rush or for those who are travelling and need a quick snack.

There are also ‘food for tonight’ bays and a bakery, where shoppers can pick up quick dinners to enjoy after a long day of work. Beer, wine and spirits are also available at the smaller stores, like any convenience store.

The main thing missing from the Aldi Local is the Specialbuys aisle, so you’d have to head to a bigger supermarket if you want to take advantage of these offers.

They want to expand their stores across the capital, giving those who live in busy areas the chance to shop at the discount supermarket closer to their homes, whether that's in the form of Locals or standard size supermarkets.

Giles Hurley, Chief Executive Officer of Aldi UK & Ireland said: ‘Whilst our expansion will continue to reach every part of the UK, we're increasing our focus on London, where our market share is just 3.4 per cent, compared to 8.1 per cent nationally.

‘London shoppers regularly tell us they would switch to Aldi if there was one nearby, so there is clearly a significant growth opportunity for us in the capital.’

So, with more stores expected to appear around the UK very soon, we should be able to grab bargains much easier. We're definitely not complaining!
