ASDA launches new 'deer in duvets' as an alternative to pigs in blankets

Will you be giving them a try?

Supermarket chain ASDA have launched a new product called 'deer in duvets' to rival the Christmas classic, pigs in blankets.

Pigs in blankets have long been a Christmas dinner staple; succulent sausages wrapped in crispy bacon making a delicious savoury addition to the classic festive feast.

However, this year, ASDA have launched a new twist on the firm festive favourite food, launching their own take on the sausage bites called deer in duvets!

The deer in duvets are venison pigs in blankets which use 'tender and flavourful gluten free venison sausages' as the core ingredient, and then wrap them in oak smoked dry cured bacon.

Described as 'a mouth-watering accompaniment to your roast turkey dinner', the supermarket hopes that this interesting new take on the classic trimming will take centre stage in your Christmas spread this year.

As well as being a tempting addition to your festive table, the deer in duvets could also make a great quick and easy canapé idea. Simply pop the bite-sized morsels in the oven and then serve as finger food with cocktail sticks at a festive party or Christmas gathering.

Combine with a mouthwatering vol au vent selection and you have your canapés sorted for the festive season!

Speaking of their new deer in duvets creation, an ASDA spokesperson said: 'We're delighted with this new addition to ASDA's party food range. Our Venison in Blankets will help customers take their Christmas trimmings to the next level - a delicious quality product inspired by a traditional festive favourite.'

Asda's Extra Special Venison Pigs in Blankets are available in stores now with a RRP of £2.98
