Asda and Greggs' new partnership sounds like a match made in heaven

If you’ve ever wanted to grab a Greggs sausage roll whilst doing your weekly shop, you’re in luck.

Asda will be launching a trial across five of their stores, making them the first supermarket to offer hot Greggs bakes.

The five lucky supermarkets are Boldon, Corby, Huyton, Wigan and Eastlands. Shoppers will be able to pick up all the delicious treats you’d find in regular Greggs bakeries.

This includes sandwiches, sweet treats and bakes. Their recent vegan steak bake and sausage rolls will be on sale too, for anyone following a plant-based diet, so there'll be plenty on offer for hungry shoppers.

Asda has not yet confirmed whether this will roll out across stores nationwide, or if it will be a permanent addition to the selected stores.

Preyash Thakrar, chief strategy office at Asda, said, ‘We are constantly looking for new ways to increase customer choice.

“By partnering with brands that fit with our core values of great quality and great value – like Greggs – we’re excited to be able to give our customers access to something new in store that we know they will love.”

Greggs also commented on the partnership, saying, “We know that high quality food-on-the-go and convenience go hand in hand, and this trial gives us the opportunity to bring our range of products to more customers in new locations.”

Recently Asda launched a click and collect service that is ready in one hour, making it perfect for those who need last minute shopping done quickly.

So far it was only trialled in a few stores, but if it’s a success we could see it popping up all over the country. Fingers crossed!
